POAC Southeast RegionWeb SiteSponsored by Sheila Bennett, POAC SE Director Updated 7/3/2012
TNPOA had a great consignment sale back in May. The new location appeared to be a big hit and we hope to be able to use the same location in the future. FL just completed the SE regional held in Gainsville, GA. The POA Congress is quickly approaching. I will leave on Wednesday to attend the BOD meeting on Thursday. Good luck to the small group that will be attending the show. If anyone wants copies of the POAC financials email me privately and I will send you a copy. Check out Facebook! TN, AL, and GA have a facebook page. Good pictures and good communication as well. POA Breeders also has a facebook page. The 2011 year has been a challenge for everyone. Not only has POA been affected but the other breeds as well has seen a slump due to the economy. Yes there are still people out there showing and buying horses, but they are being very selective. Also people are looking at cheaper ways to show such as local open shows, saddle club shows, 4H shows, and just plain trail riding. It does not matter as long as they are having fun. So for 2012 advertise your IBC shows and get the other breeds involved with your shows. Complete paperwork and let the other breeds gain open show points, like for example PAC for the paint horse clubs. The Reichart is planning on being bigger this year. Entries are due approximately by the 15th of July. be sure to check your advertisement pamplet. I am making plans to go myself in 2012. Many things will be happening throughout the year. TNPOA will be having a joint show with the TN ApHA in August at Clearview. ALPOA will be having a show again in AL in September GAPOA is looking at having at least one 2-day show to go along with the regular one day shows. Please support your state POA shows and if you can, the surrounding states of our region. If any of you are planning on attending any open shows or 4H shows, be sure to look for other POA's. Go up, introduce yourself, and let them know they have a POA. Then let them know all about POA's, how to join, and become part of the POA family. Also remember if you show open shows that you can complete an open show affidavit and qualify for points and a national year end award. The POAC logo can not be used by anyone for financial gain. Any merchandise already made up may be sold, but nothing new. State clubs may use the logo for their year end awards. Also the POA logo is to be removed from POA talk. DO NOT COPY OR EDIT any pictures that are professionally made. These pictures are copyrighted. Don't forget to check out the classified section. People are looking broke POA's. Send me more to advertise! It is FREE!
Please be advised.........An issue that has come about is breeding to AQHA/APHA stallions. Be sure you know the stallion's pedigree before breeding. Resources have stated the new AQHA papers are now stating the stallions are doubled registered. If the stallion is registered as an APHA stallion the foals are not eligible to be registered as a POA. Be sure to ask the stallion owner point blank if there is any paint registry. As always, "buyer beware". POA is a breed that is based upon color. You may have 2 registered POA parents, but if the foal does not color you only have a pony, not a showable POA. If it is a mare, you may receive breeding stock papers where she can be used as a broodmare. If in doubt about a pony talk to several people before purchasing the pony. In regards to color issues new rules are being put into place effect 1/1/2010 As your SE director, I am here to serve you as a region; not for myself or for a select few.
